Say bye bye to the old year...

It's the end of the trail, and the year, too. This is me in my usual pose to the rest of the world, standing at the end of the Lewis and Clark trail, in Astoria , Oregon. I think that was in Feburary or maybe August...being brain dead, I never know when it is. Since we have had winter all year, it very well could be August. It matters not, all days run together anyway, it's not like I have anything to do(lucky me)except play on the computer and read( and take boy #2 to his psych every other week). My life is very good, except for various age related things...how can I be so old when I still feel so young? I seriously don't feel any different than I did when I was about 15, and yeah, I'm still that goofy, too.Even mr punxxi has given in, he bought me some really cute slipper boots with black and white stripes and pink skulls on the for Christmas...too bad they were too small, they were seriously cute ! I am rambling...I feel somewhat hyper right now which is not the norm but once in a while it happens. I am somewhat backwards in that I can drink coffee and go to sleep, maybe I haven't had enough caffeine yet? Oh well have a great New Year everyone....I love all you bloggggieeessss!!You are my best friends, belive it or not!

Just saying the name is fattening..

Today I am making dessert for Christmas dinner, it is a combination of 2 recipes, so I hope it turns out tasty. It is a caramelized bread pudding pumpkin cheesecake. I have made it before but with a regular cheesecake on top. I got this receipe from a friend of ours that is a chef. I will have to let him know how it comes out with the pumpkin cheesecake on top. It wazs really good with the regular cheese cake. I really love to bake and have been baking since a couple of days befor Thanksgiving. Not like steady, everyday, but more than I do all year since we live on diets 345 days a year. So far I made a gingerbread house with my son David, the birds loved it after we picked all the candies off. Gingerbread and Snickerdoodle cookies were next, those are for my husband he loves them (the Snickerdoodles, they are kinda dull if you ask me) . He says he isn't a big sugar eater, which is true the rest of the year. Then we made the killer cookies to put in a couple of baskets we made for friends, they are basically the recipe for Quaker Oatmeal cookies, but then you add pecans, butterscotch chips, mini Reeses's Pieces, and the secret ingredient is ********... ha you didn't think I was gonna tell you the secret ingridient did ya?
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
XOXO

FAAAAARK! It's a wee tad nippy out...

Brrrrr, it's cold! Well, not as cold as say, Minnesota or Alaska, but it was 27 f , (that is in the -2 -3 range, celcius)when i went to bed and 25f when i got up, icy roads and all that stuff. It is supposed to rain/snow for the next couple of days. Maybe we will have a nice white Christmas? More likely we will have a white Christmas caused by fog.Even the cats want to stay in the house all night, which most of them won't do in the summer.I am eternally thankful for electric blankets, all I need to do now is to remember to put my pillow under the covers before I go to bed...nothing like crawling into a nice cozy warm bed and having your head hit an ice cold pillow. It is so cold in this house that I had to buy terrycloth toilet seat covers...I mean I do not want to wake up in the middle of the night frozen solid to the toilet seat, ya know what I mean?
I was trying to make some Christmas mini tarts, boy did I make a mess, glad I keep that silicone oven protector in there...melted sugar all over it ...what a mess that would have made baked onto the oven...so that recipe is going in the trash ... I have a ton more to try out ...a ton, that 's what I am gonna weigh after all of my sweet experiments the last 3 weeks.

Ahhhhh(s#!%)

Thanksgiving is over and done! Now Mr. Punxxi is obsessed with getting the place decorated for Christmas,as it is his very favorite time of the year. The outside is done, next he will start on the inside, but maybe I can hold him off a couple of weeks(I won't hold my breath on that one tho)It wouldn't be so bad if he would do it in moderation. He should have been born in Victorian times because he, like they, think that every square inch has to be covered in some glitzy crap. Me, I am more of a minimalist type, and have claustrophobia.. it starts getting to me after awhile. I am the one who starts undecorating as soon as I can, although I usually let it stay up until the 1st...I think he'd let it stay up til April if he could get away with it. He has all these Dept 56 things he sets out, last year the cats killed London Bridge( aw gee whiz, me crusty lil heart is broke). We use to live in a 3 story house, which meant we had a tree on every floor. We only have one story in this house, but I am planning on a 2 story for the next one, but it won't be an open floor plan, like the 3 story was. Damn, I sound really whiney, but I really am not, there are just a couple of things that drive me nuts, one of which is overdoing the Christmas decorating. I have been trying to convince him for years that less is more because then you will notice the cool little things that are sitting around, but that he so overdoes it that most of it is lost in the glitzy stuff. Oh well, it's just once a year. Besides I know if I lived where kids actually came around at Halloween, I would decorate the house to death(ha).

a day at the beach

There was no spring or summer this year, and now fall is like winter already!I talked to my oldest son yesterday and he said it was in the high 90's,(32.2c) and smokey because of all the fires burning down in southern california. i told him that it has been in the 50's (10c)in the daytime and in the low 40's (4c)at night. we had a solid week of rain and more is expected. I can't wait til we sell this house and relocate! this is my youngest son and i at the beach....brrrr foggy and cold ( and great fun, too)

Happy Halloween!

the 1st picture are some friends, Bill and Susie...he is actually wearing some of my old work clothes that I "modified" for him
I don't even drink and I'm under the table! mr.punxxi is the non celt in a kilt, marne is the roller girl in blue dannett is pretty in pink, then there is my ancient crone self in ripped tights =:o before i decided to wear the pink and black hair, I put my own hair in a mohawk, but it has been so long that I screwed it up, so I washed it 3 times to get the glue out and flopped on the wig instead.

Halloween is my very favorite holiday!

Sometimes....

Sometimes my youngest kid just cracks me up, and sometimes the place we are at just lends itself to the humor. Now, i have to preface this by telling you that my youngest son is 37 years old, but was born with brain damage and also has schizophrenia. Because of the brain damage he is about 8 years old mentally as far as his reasoning goes. Today we were out running around and stopped into one of our favorite chain stores. As we were walking down one aisle, he whispers to me, "mom, there's a man in a dress over there!!!" He was right, there was a person that was probably in the process of sexual reasignment surgery. So I explained all about that. Not so funny you say? It was only because the name of the store we were in is Bi-Mart.Hey ya gotta laugh whenever you can :D

At a loss for words

I don't know why I am having such a hard time posting blogs lately, I used to be able to go on and on. Maybe there is just nothing to say or maybe I am depressed and don't know it...I really felt I was pretty much over that last month. Anyway it is killing me not being able to write, I surf blogdom everyday and see that others have this problem intermittenly so I should not worry about it. There is nothing to write about in my life, it's pretty dull. That's my own fault I suppose, because I don't make an effort to go out socializing too much. 18 days til Halloween; I know that I will have a lot of fun then...we were going to book rooms at the hotel where the party is but we only live about 3-4 miles from it so I will be the designated driver, as usual. It's a good thing I don't care if I drink or not, but last year I did because we booked a room at a place about 20 miles from here. People were stunned when I downed 4 Long Island Ice Teas and was not only upright, I was still sober. That is one reason I don't drink....I could go broke trying to get drunk!I did buy a bottle of absinthe a couple of weeks ago...haven't tried it yet, not sure how to use the little strainer looking doodad that came with it. I hope everyone has a great week ahead.

people

I have been meeting some new and interesting bloggers lately...the best way to do it is to read one and then when you are making a comment, see who is interesting,go to their blog and read it, also; so far this has worked out well.Maybe it's because for the first time in a very long time I am not depressed to the point of physical pain, or maybe it's just because my very fav holiday is comming up, halloween (yay)I bought some new eyelashes to wear, they have pink feathers on them..tres chic, no?They should look devine with my logger boots, don't ya think? They will match my pink and black hair perfectly. There may be incriminating pictures later!

parties and stuff

Today is 13/08/08 it is my second anniversary of the year, yep I have one every 6 months, the other one is 11/02. It's fun to have 2 party days a year for it, we usually go away for 2-4 days the August one is always longer as mr has his birthday on the 11th and then the anni, more reason to party (eat too much and do fun bad stuff) so we went north to the beach...it was foggy and muggy at the same time, today we left and it was a low fog, but cooler, now we are home and it is sunny and blue. I took my camera, and left it in the safe the entire time, never thought to take pics with my cell ( duh) I was sort of irked because I only got internet access the 1st day, they were having a major wi-fi problem ...thank god I made him put it back on my phone so I could at least keep up with my email, it is nothing to have 2 or 300 a day and that is not spam, just my crazy friends.so now i have been married 42 years or 10 years depending which time. Ya know everyone needs a break now and then, the one we took was a 20 year one...

Think about this....

I got this from a friend, I think it is fairly true, judging from what I see in news of the world....

Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In it's fullest form, it is a complete, total, 100% system of life - legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The religious component is a beard for all of the other components. Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges. When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other components tend to creep in as well. Here's how it works. As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace- loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in: United States -- Muslim 0.6% Australia -- Muslim 1.5% Canada -- Muslim 1.9% China -- Muslim 1.8% Italy -- Muslim 1.5% Norway -- Muslim 1.8% At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in: Denmark -- Muslim 2% ,Germany -- Muslim 3.7% United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7% Spain -- Muslim 4% Thailand -- Muslim 4.6% From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in: France -- Muslim 8%A ,Philippines -- Muslim 5% Sweden -- Muslim 5% Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3% The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5% Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8% At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world. When Muslims approach 10% of the population , they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in: Guyana -- Muslim 10% India -- Muslim 13.4% Israel -- Muslim 16% Kenya -- Muslim 10% Russia -- Muslim 15% After reaching 20%, nations can expect h air-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in: Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8% At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in: Bosnia -- Muslim 40% Chad -- Muslim 53.1% Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7% From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in: Albania -- Muslim 70% Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4% Qatar -- Muslim 77.5% Sudan -- Muslim 70% After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in: Bangladesh -- Muslim 83% Egypt -- Muslim 90% Gaza -- Muslim 98.7% Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1% Iran -- Muslim 98% Iraq -- Muslim 97% Jordan -- Muslim 92% Morocco -- Muslim 98.7% Pakistan -- Muslim 97% Palestine -- Muslim 99% Syria -- Muslim 90% Tajikistan -- Muslim 90% Turkey -- Muslim 99.8% United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96% 100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace. Here there's supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in: Afghanistan -- Muslim 100% Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100% Somalia -- Muslim 100% Yemen -- Muslim 100% Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons. 'Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; the tribe against the world, and all of us against the infidel. -- Leon Uris, 'The Haj' It is important to understand that in some countries, with well under 100% Muslim populations, such as France, the minority Muslim populations live in ghettos, within which they are 100% Muslim, and within which they live by Sharia Law. The national police do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts nor schools nor non-Muslim religious facilities. In such situations, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. The children attend madrasses. They learn only the Koran. To even associate with an infidel is a crime punishable with death. Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate. Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world's population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddists, and Jews, and all other believers. Muslims will exceed 50% of the world's population by the end of this century. Adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat
